« The Importance of The Business Concept Writing Your Business Plan, Part 1 »
When we’re driving, a majority of us watch the road ahead. We have this crazy habit of looking at the car directly in front of us, and watching to see what they are doing, and how they are driving. Sometimes, we check our mirrors to make sure things are okay all around. Every once in a while, we might even look to either side to get in a lane that we should be in to get where we’re going, but we always go back to looking forward.
This sounds nuts doesn’t it? Why don’t we always look at the car to the side of us, or the billboards up high, or the pretty girl walking down the sidewalk? Why waste time looking forward if we know where we want to go, and we already know how to get there?
Because we’d end up crashing our car.
So, THAT’S the crazy way of doing things.
So, if that is so nutty, why do we “drive” like that in our business, and in most other parts of our lives?
Why do we convince ourselves that we’ll be able to drive to a goal while looking at (focusing on) everything but our goal? Doesn’t that sound a little silly?
When you’re busy “looking off to the side,” you are unconsciously swerving off in that direction. Your hands are at the wheel, and, low and behold, they’re turning it in to face that thing you are focused on. You then start to worry about going into that telephone pole up ahead! All you have to do is look to either side of the pole, and aim for any of the open space. All you have to do is turn the wheel to either side, and you’ll be clear of the telephone pole, and back on your way to where you were headed in the first place.
The only thing you see is the pole. Your problem. You focus on this instead of a solution and you eventually run into it. You didn’t hit it because you were a bad “driver” however, but because you couldn’t take your eyes off of it.
Sometimes, hitting the pole would be a step up. There are times you may just slowly get off track. So slowly that you don’t realize it. By the time you do, however, you are absolutely lost with no direction, running on empty, and trying to figure out how this all came to be.
A lack of focus will take you nowhere more quickly than you can imagine.
Check out our site now, and we’ll give you our guide to help you get to your destination without the risk of crashing.
Until then, take the Red Pill, and see us in the morning.
